We aren't testing your ability to memorize algorithms or invert binary trees on a whiteboard. We care about how you think, plan, and collaborate with AI to build scalable, production-ready systems. As a AI Software Engineer, your role is to be an architect and an orchestrator. This assessment mirrors that reality. You will be evaluated on the clarity of your architectural decisions, the efficiency of your execution, and your ability to leverage LLMs effectively.

Step 1 output

Assumptions and scope boundaries.
High-level system design with key tradeoffs.
Execution plan with milestones.

Step 2 output

Working implementation aligned to the spec.
AI usage logs for supported tools.
Final submission package.

Understand & Plan

10 minutes

Use the built-in AI chat only (no external tools) to clarify assumptions and tradeoffs.
Write your assumptions, high-level design, and execution plan.
Step 1 is pure planning. Do not write any code at all.

Platform AI chat only in Step 1 (no external tools)

Build & Submit

50 minutes

Implement locally, run tests, and prepare your final submission.
Use any AI tools you want in Step 2.
Upload your project and AI usage logs.

What we evaluate

We look for clarity of thinking, sound architecture, and how you supervise AI-assisted execution.
